Along with lively “Chicken Dance” that everyone knows, here a couple popular song lyrics to help you gear up for Oktoberfest 2018!!!

One famous song during Oktoberfest is “Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit” which means translated “A toast to cheer and good times”. The band leader plays this song several times to invite the guests to toast and drink.

Ein Prosit Song

German (Deutsch)

Ein Prosit, ein Prosit,
Der Gemütlichkeit,
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit,
Der Gemütlichkeit.

Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke, HOI HOI HOI!

Ein Prosit Song

English Translation

A toast, a toast
To cheer and good times,
A toast, a toast,
To cheer and good times.

Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke, HOI HOI HOI!

Another well known song during Oktoberfest if the “Flieger Lied” (Flying Song)

"So ein schöner Tag (Fliegerlied)"

bin so stark, stark, stark,

English Fliegerlied Lyrics

English Translation

I like to lay in the grass and look up at the sky.

Don’t all the clouds look funny?

And a plane flies past,
and I wave up at it.
(Kids: “Hello flier”)

And if you’re there too,
then I feel fantastic.

And I fly, fly, fly, like a plane
am so strong, strong, strong
like a tiger and so tall, tall, tall like a giraffe
and tall all-oh-oh
and I jump, jump, jump
and keep on jumping
and I swim, swim, swim
over to you and I take, take, take
you by the hand because I
like you
and I say

Today is such a beautiful day – la, la, la, la, la
