The Schwaben Family Bowlers have been active since the 1970’s. There are members who have been bowling for over 33 years!
Today, the Family Bowlers consist of both a Children’s League will players aged 4 – 15 and an Adults’ League with players that range in age from the low 20’s to their their oldest member who is now 90 years old. Currently, we have 8 teams in our league. However, we are always looking for new members that want to come out and enjoy the sport. There is no need to have ever played before (the skunk awards for lowest score are still the cutest trophies)!
The Family Bowlers play at Towne Bowl at 11 Ottawa St N in Kitchener. They play every 2nd Sunday from 6:30 pm until approximately 9 pm, from September till April. The cost for adults for 3 games this year is $15.00 (including prize money). The prize monies collected go towards the costs of trophies and awards, as well as the Christmas and Year End Parties. Shoe rental is extra, if needed.
We are always looking for more children aged 4 to 15 that wish to try bowling as well. A children’s league has recently been launched again, and it’s great to see kids once again having fun playing the game. For the children, they play 2 games and the cost is $10.00 (including prize money). Shoe rental is again extra, if needed.
As a special challenge, there is usually an annual tournament between the various German Bowling Leagues in south-western Ontario. It takes place in March of every year, but is dependent on enough players registering to participate. It is something to look forward to, giving our members the chance to challenge themselves during the season.
If you are interested, please contact the League President, Helga Hill at email@example.com or through the Schwaben Club. You do not have to be a member of the Schwaben Club or speak German to join. We’ll take anyone who just wants to have fun – so invite your family and friends and be part of a great league!
